Variation at the microcycle level

A little while ago I wrote about monitoring and introduced the idea of monotony and strain. The importance of variation at every "level", macrocycle, mesocycle, blocks within a mesocycle, and the micro cycle is well documented.

Other than daily or session planning, the microcycle is the shortest "level" within a periodization plan. Intelligent variation here will lead to better fatigue management, and promote positive physiological adaptation.
